So my first book of 2012 was Robopocalypse. I’d give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars. It started out way too slow for my liking. I give books about 2 chapters or 30 pages before I give up on them. Maybe that’s not fair, but I’ve got too much to read! Anyway, once this book finally got going, it did get better. If you know me, you know one of my fears is machines becoming self-aware and taking over the world. Maybe it’s from watching too many scary machine movies when I was younger. They scare me. So maybe I shouldn’t have read this book at night. Because the part where the girl’s Baby Talks A Lot (or whatever she’s called) actually comes alive and threatens her and her brother? FREAKED ME OUT.

The rest of the machines weren’t AS scary, mainly because they were robots/machines created for the book. But it was still enjoyable and not a bad way to start off the 100 books.

I try to set various goals for myself each year. Some of them have worked out (I’m now 8 half-marathons in!) and some haven’t (after bruising my tailbone I gave up Roller Derby dreams). I decided my goal for 2012 would be to read 100 books. Which averages out to about 2 books a week. I’m a pretty fast reader, so I’m not terribly worried about it.

Just some general rules I’ve laid out for myself: Books on tape don’t count, short books (less than 100 pages) don’t count, and books I’ve already read DO count (mainly b/c I want to re-read some books this year and for some movies coming out - Hello Hunger Games!). I’m going to keep up with my list here. Go 2012!

Also, if you have suggestions for books I should read, leave a comment! I’m open to pretty much anything, in fact I can’t think of something I really wouldn’t be into reading.
