So I gave this book 3 stars on goodreads, but I’m not sure how close to that I feel that it deserves. Maybe more like 2.5. This was just a walking through the library and it caught my eye pick. I read the jacket description and I’ll be honest I think I thought it’d be more like The Girls Guide to Hunting and Fishing, which I really liked. It’s not like that. I kept reading it hoping that the main character would finally stop being annoying, but she just never did. Which was disappointing because what was the point of the story then? There was no resolution to this character.

I understand not every character is going to grow into what I want them to be. But as long as the character goes through everything to come out one way or the other showing that they were affected some way. It felt like the author thought she was taking this character somewhere, like all these events were affecting her even if it wasn’t for the better, but it really didn’t. So it was just ineffectual.

The saving grace to this book was the writing. It kept me turning the page because I assumed that with how well it was written that it would finish the natural progression of the story, but it felt almost like the author couldn’t find out where she wanted to take the character, made an ending and just stopped it so it could be over. But it was written well and kept me interested. That’s pretty much why I couldn’t come up with how many stars I wanted to give it.
